Multisensory Stations of the Cross

Created by Father Simon Rundell, Vicar of the Parish of Saint Thomas the Apostle, Elson and a group of adults and young people called “Blesséd”  for a major worship event in Norfolk (the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham National Youth Pilgrimage) last year, and finally brought home for the start of the most important week of the Christian Year: Holy Week.

People are invited to step outside their busy lives, put on a pair of headphones and walk on a traditional journey done in a modern way.

The Stations of the Cross describe the last hours of Jesus’ passion, as made famous by the recent Mel Gibson film The Passion of the Christ, and has been a part of Christian worship for Millennia.

In Elson, however, everyone is invited to follow this important story through modern music, engaging in activities and thinking about how it relates to modern life.

Father Simon:

“It uses challenging imagery in places, and all of our senses to engage with God: sight, sound, smell and sensation, recognising that Christian believes that God created everything that is around us and so we can and should use everything in the modern world to engage with God.”

The Multisensory Stations are running through the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week from 3pm until 9pm at the Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle, on the corner of Elson Road and Elson Lane in Gosport.http://www.blessed.org.uk/

All are welcome to come and be challenged, inspired and transformed.
